Thank you to M&M’S® for sponsoring this post.
Fall is upon us and that means pumpkins, leaves changing colors, crisp cool air and football! Oh how I love football! Do you know what else I love – hosting parties in my home for friends and family. But I don’t have hours and hours to plan and prep for a party, so I always rely on super easy and quick party ideas.
With just a few supplies and a few ingredients, you can put together one fun football themed tablescape. How does turning your dining room table into a football field sound? Or serving a homemade popcorn snack mix out of football themed snack bags you made yourself? I promise you it’s easy and when you’re done, you’ll have set the stage for a party your guests will love.
Popcorn Snack Mix
I have one very easy sweet popcorn snack mix that I change up to fit any holiday. In the spirit of football season I relied on my favorite candy – M&M’S®. These aren’t just any M&M’S®, they are a special Game Day M&M’S® Candies Mix you can pick up at your local CVS. How great are these?! You’ll only find them in CVS stores, so be sure to pick up several packages while they’re on sale and while supplies last. I have a feeling these will go fast!
Here’s how to make the popcorn and candy snack mix: Pop a bowl of popcorn Either use about 1/2 cup of kernels or a regular sized microwave popcorn bag. Pour it into a bowl and let it cool completely, so it won’t melt the M&M’S® once you add them. Make sure to get all of the un-popped kernels out so someone doesn’t break a tooth.

Add the M&M’S® Game Day Mix & Almonds
After the popcorn has cooled completely, add ½ a cup (or more if desired) M&M’S® and ½ cup almonds. Why almonds you ask? Because they look like little footballs am I right? I added a mixture of peanut and plain M&M’S®.
Add the candy coating
Melt the almond bark according to package directions. (I used about 5 squares for one bag of popped popcorn.) Add the melted candy coating to the popcorn mixture, mixing it all together so everything is coated.
Spread out the mixture
Spread out the popcorn & candy mixture onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Let it harden for about 30 minutes.
After it has hardened, break it up into chunks and put into the individual football themed party bags.
DIY Football Party Bags
I went to a football party once and saw these treat bags on the table. They are so easy to put together! So easy in fact, you could have the kids make these while you focus on other party prep.
I made two sizes – one for the popcorn mix and one to serve candy out of. All you need are brown paper sacks and white washi tape, which you can pick up at your local craft store. For the bags holding the candy, I cut a little off the top but kept the popcorn snack bags full size. I like how the different sizes look on the table.
All you have to do is apply one piece of long washi tape down the center of the bag and three small ones evenly spaced out horizontally across the long piece; making it look like football laces. And voila! You’re done.
Fill the bags with popcorn and candy; making it easy for your guests to grab a bag and go enjoy the game.
DIY Football Field Table Decor
How can you kick the décor up a notch for your football party? By turning your serving table into a football field of course! This only took me about 30 minutes to make and I think it turned out really cute.
I picked up a roll of green bulletin board paper, white washi tape and white sticker numbers at the craft store.
To make this, roll the paper out on your table to measure how much you’ll need. Cut the paper to the appropriate length and tape the edges down on the table. Starting in the middle, apply one long piece of white washi tape, which will become the 50 yard line. I spaced the tape 7 inches apart and used a ruler to measure so it would look even. Apply the rest of the yard lines and then label them accordingly – 40, 30, 20 and 10.
Now you have one very cool table to serve your snacks on!
Place the football party bags on the table, plus any other snacks and drinks and get ready to enjoy the game. I lined up some M&M’S® “football” players on the field because…why not?
Do you like hosting parties in your home? Whether you’re throwing a party for Game Day, the Super Bowl or your teen’s football team, these football party ideas make for one fun event for everyone.
Now tell me…who’s your favorite football team?
