Over the last few weeks, I’ve covered quite a few fall wardrobe staples like the perfect Holiday dress, the many ways to wear black pants for work, that go-to black blazer and a few fall style tips in Family Circle. Another fall favorite of mine is dresses. Printed dresses are a big trend right now and after browsing through all of these choices, I can see why. Amazon Fashion even calls printed dresses one of five most compelling pieces to add to your wardrobe this season.
Believe it or not, you can do a lot with one dress, in particular, the Wearever Pleated Empire Dress from J. Jill. I styled it three different ways, showing how just adding a denim jacket or cardigan, as well as switching up your shoes, can give you so many styling options.
Outfit #1
This knit dress comes in a herringbone pattern and is so incredibly soft. It features an empire waist and is available in two colors choices: black and plum. This dress is great for the office, home or while traveling because it’s virtually wrinkle free. I’m headed to Seattle soon and am definitely planning on packing this with me.
I paired the dress with the Soft Comfort Heartbreaker boot in black. They have an edge to them I like but are so incredibly comfortable. I have several pairs of shoes from this company and they never disappoint.
Outfit #2
For an added layer, I styled the dress with a denim jacket. Later I realized I should have added a pair of black tights to change up the look a little. With the temps still in the high 80s where I live, tights were the last thing on my mind. I like how the denim jacket dresses it down just a bit and makes it a little more casual.
Outfit #3
For the third outfit, I broke out my favorite black suede wedge boots and Pleated Back Jacket in Black. While the denim jacket made the outfit a little more casual, the boots and black jacket dressed it up a notch.
So there you have it – One dress and three different outfit ideas. All it takes is a little experimenting to make your wardrobe really work for you. You don’t need a ton of different pieces in your closet. You just need ones you feel fantastic in and that are versatile.
Here are a few more fall dresses that caught my eye.
